The colors of Coastal Carolina University are "Teal" and "Bronze". Teal represents the ocean and Bronze represents the sand of the South Carolina coast where the university is located. These colors were chosen in 1993 after a committee composed of students, faculty, staff, and alumni conducted a survey and made recommendations. The colors are used in the university's official logo, athletic uniforms, and merchandise. Coastal Carolina University's official mascot is also a teal-colored Chanticleer named "Chauncey".
